DR. WILLIAM WOOD discussing his appearance in October of 2010 on VISUAL RADIO
"Joe, I'll tell you something. People stopped us in the street, each one of us at different times and, actually, in different places. People that we never saw before. And they said "You were on TV...and I hadn't been on TV for quite a few years. And I told them about your show.
(They said) "I learned more about the Greenline on your show than I knew about the Greenline at all!"
Dr. William Wood and his wife, Carolyn Rosen, returned to
VISUAL RADIO on August 12, 2011. Posted during the day on 8/15/11, by the 19th the hits were up to 120.
By the way, Visual Radio's host is a victim of identity theft. The authorities are working on it. Beware of false videos out there. A formal announcement will be made soon.
What is Readercon, you ask? This 22 year old convention for Science Fiction and Fantasy readers is an essential event held annually at the Burlington Marriot in Burlington, Massachusetts. As I write this the four day event is in high gear, parties in some of the suites, authors talking to fans, tons of books for sale in a huge dealer's room set up smack dab in the middle of the festival.
It's fascinating. the hardcore devotees of the stuff that millions of people are running out to the movie theaters this week to experience...all congregating just a hop, skip and a jump from the new Harry Potter movie, Deathly Hallows Part 2, down the road at the AMC in Burlington as well as both the Showcase Cinemas in Woburn and Imax in Reading. One would imagine some of these loyalists of the genre probably found time to get to the cinema, but the action is happening at this conference ...connections being made, authors giving lectures or reading from their books and more. Visual Radio interviewed Rick Wilbur, editor of the book Future Media along with the fellow who wrote the foreword, Paul Levinson, talking about his new book New New Media (not to be confused with Future Media, of course). We also interview Canadian Jennifer Wylie, author of Sweet Light, her editor, Sean Hayden - who is author of Origins, Vol 1 - a new vampire series, and Marc Vun Kannon who discussed his new book, St. Martin's Moon, about werewolves on a lunar body! Fascinating stuff and eloquent speakers all. Readercon 22 continues the tradition of the Noreascon and the Boskone, legendary conventions that provide for fun and enlightenment...and a way to directly connect with the people who create the magic.

Congratulations my friend, and congratulations to WinCAM for making a tremendous choice for their award.
No one deserves recognition for their tireless commitment to public access television over these many years more than you than you.
You do it the "right way." No B.S. just straight from the heart and back to the community.
Funny how that concept gets corrupted in other communities. Cheers! Enjoy the holidays!

Matt O'Connor hosts The Rehearsal Space, a program taped in Stoneham in the earlier 2000's featuring the Medford band THE DEAL along with name artists. When Matt was a Medford resident he attempted to get his show aired on TV 3. TV3's self-appointed president Frank Pilleri refused to respond to Matt. Keep in mind, Mr. O'Connor and the band The Deal, two separate Medford entities, had no other interaction with TV 3 Medford. They were simply ignored for no reason at all. So much for the "Outreach" component of the Agreement TV 3 has with the City of Medford
The Honorable Judge Marie O. Jackson-Thompson (retired) found that TV 3 Medford is running a private access station. This is a violation of the Agreement with the City of Medford (and, in turn, the City's Agreement with Comcast) which is something Visual Radio host and 31 year public access veteran Joe Viglione is fighting for: the rights of the Comcast subscribers and real Free Speech in the City of Medford.
As Producer of the Year in a neighboring town, I am determined to replace the entrenched Board of Directors with fresh eyes, clean hands and an efficient intellectual property attorney who will work to disinfect the Copyright violations and Free Speech abuses in the city of Medford, Massachusetts which abound due to the negligence of the issuing authority, Michael J. McGlynn, the long-toothed Mayor of Medford.
Dear friends:
I am deeply honored to have received the WinCAM 2010 PRODUCER OF THE YEAR award.
An official statement will be sent to the media, but I wanted Medford residents to know that our neighboring town has been most helpful to us in allowing me to tape and air a show on the Green Line featuring Dr. Wood and Carolyn Rosen, weekly broadcasts with Johnny Byers talking sports, news reports from Jim Morse and an author coming in this week thanks to the efforts of Joanne Codi. Along with A-list guests like Tommy James of The Shondells, film criticLeonard Maltin, Variety Editor Bob Hofler, Michael Moore, The Dictators' Andy Shernoff and many others we've produced historical programming (with Harlow Giles Unger) as well as local politician Michael Day and so many others.
As I personally told Mayor McGlynn at a press conference this year, we have resources for Medford residents to tape and edit vital programming that can be aired on the Government Channel in Medford
For residents interested in what is going on next door in Winchester check out this press release on Patch.com
It is great to know that one can be creative in a supportive environment - and it is something that I wish for all Medford residents. Sincerely,
Joe Viglione 2010 PRODUCER OF THE YEAR in Winchester

"...Joe Viglione, the King of Mass. cable - tv!"
Bill Press, MSNBC commentator author of Dutton Press book BUSH MUST GO 7/26/04 Cambridge, Mass. http://www.billpress.com
Cable television host Joseph Viglione launched his Visual Radio Television show nine years ago in Woburn. He has lined up some pretty impressive interviews along the way, which number 300 now and have aired in many local towns. Virgin Airlines founder Richard Branson, singers Judy Collins and Suzanne Vega, performance artist Laurie Anderson, ''Mystic River" author Dennis Lehane, professor Stephen Hawking, and band members from The Doors, Grand Funk Railroad, The Rolling Stones, The Cars, and The Jefferson Starship, are just a sample of the notables Viglione has had on his show. Viglione writes for All Media Guide and is working on a book about Lou Reed's 1973 Rock 'n' Roll Animal Tour
Joe Viglione of Medford was just 15 years old in 1969 when he produced his first issue of Varulven, a fan magazine featuring interviews and film and music reviews. A collector of 8mm science fiction and fantasy films, Viglione was also an aspiring filmmaker and musician whose original songs first aired on WBCN-FM when he was 17.

NOW ON IN MANHATTAN VIDEOWAVE presents VISUAL RADIO with David Selby of "Dark Shadows"
While his magazine is no longer in production, Viglione has since founded a record label by the same name, worked as a radio station programming director, and continued writing about films and the Boston music scene. Locally, however, Viglione may be best known for his public access television show, "Visual Radio," which is broadcast in 18 towns including Arlington, Billerica, Burlington, Lexington, Medford, and Stoneham. A weekly segment airs in Manhattan.
Since launching "Visual Radio" in 1995, Viglione has produced more than 400 shows featuring interviews, concerts, and lectures by local authors, politicians, and community activists.
"Why do I keep doing this? It's in my blood and interviews keep coming my way," Viglione said.
Joe Viglione was program director of WNSH-AM 1570 in 1992 and ABFR AM 1670 in 2000
WBCN used to air local music from 11 AM - 11:15 AM every weekday in the early 1970s
In 1983 Joe Viglione had more local songs played in one year than any other artist on WBCN
Joe's show, Visual Radio, has run on Medford Community Cablevision; it is on hiatus for about a month in Medford as the station is under a Performance Evaluation which is reported on in the same issue of the Globe North West:
Joe began hosting TV Eye in 1979 - next year will be his 30th year on Cable Television!
"Joe Vig - The King Of Access TV in Boston" quote from Bill Press from Sirius XM Radio
In the "Community Briefing" section of the Boston Globe Northwest
Brad Kane writes:
MEDFORDCABLE COMPANY CRITICIZED IN HEARING:
Medford Community Cablevision was criticized for lack of financial accountability and no longer being a representative of the community as a whole at a recent performance evaluation hearing before retired Woburn District Court judge Marie O. Jackson-Thompson. The resignation of Medford TV3 general manager Dawn Natalia was announced by the station's attorney, David Skerry, who was later removed from the hearing by police for interrupting testimony of others.
See Skerry's removal here: closing in on 400 views
(tons of people on MySpace have been slipping over to view the You Tube of Mr. Skerry.
We have thousands of MySpace "friends" (sort of like subscribers) and some are already gleeful at the removal of Skerry)
Back to the Globe story:
The hearing came out of the report on public access television in Medford by City Solictor Mark Rumley, who recommended the hearing and an audit of the station's financial records. The station has received $818,000.00 from Medford cable ratepayers over the past three years. With the hearing complete, Jackson-Thompson can either call another hearing or make recommendations to Mayor Michael McGlynn
In an e mail to some of the Medford City Council I have requested that there be a focus on:
1)Violations of the station's own policies and procedures which may have been committed by board members and ex-board members and enforcing those policies (which would result in board members being suspended or terminated for violating policies they instituted and expect the ratepayers to obey)
2)The legality of each and every board meeting after Solicitor Rumley's report noted an erroneous or inconsistent list of named board membersThese are two key points.
If the board of TV 3 is found to have violated their own policies and procedures an oversight committee should suspend them and replace them.
